Promotion with a Purpose

Developing worthwhile sponsor gifts for a youthful public radio station.

Challenge

KOSU is the NPR affiliate of Oklahoma State University by day and an alternative music radio station by night. As a result, they appeal to a younger, but still politically-minded audience compared to some other public radio stations. To reflect their unique position, we decided to codify their identity through iconography and downright cool merchandising.

Outcome

We developed a set of icons and illustrations that reflect KOSU’s organization, locale, and spirit. The icons reference WPA-era art and design to lend a powerful aestetic voice that their members recognize immediately. This visual language was applied to two unique products, a die-cut sticker sheet and a bandana.

Services we provided

  • Concept
  • Strategy
  • Design
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Fulfillment

Today’s consumers are more savvy than ever before. The traditional donor gift’s of a totebag or mug lack appeal. If you put fifty radio station mugs on a shelf they all blur together. KOSU approached us to help them create something meaningful and memorable for their audience to reflect their appreciation for their supporters.
